Marsha Schreier

DONALD PENNELL (Conductor) recently retired from his position as choral director at Rahway High School in June 2014 after 30 years in the district.  Prior to his position in Rahway, Mr. Pennell was a member of the music faculties at Essex County College, Passaic County Community College and the Newark and Hillside school districts. Since 1967, Mr. Pennell has been organist and choir director at St. Rocco’s Church, Newark, St. Joseph’s Church, East Orange, The Veteran’s Administration Hospital, East Orange, Holy Family Church, Nutley, and St. Thomas More Church, Fairfield.  From 1986 to 1992 Mr. Pennell also served as conductor of the Bloomfield Civic Chorus. Mr. Pennell attended the Manhattan School of Music, earned a bachelor degree and music certification from Kean University, a master’s degree in education from Seton Hall University, and a master’s degree in music education from Westminster Choir College. Currently, Mr. Pennell is the organist and choir director at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, NJ.  An active member in both the New Jersey Education Association, and the National Pastoral Musicians, Mr. Pennell served as president of the Rahway Education Association for nine years.


Pianist Marsha Schreier is currently the Cantor at Congregation Beth Ahm, Verona. Marsha has been the Music Director for Verona High School’s spring musicals for the past 13 years; she has also served as Music Director for numerous theater groups in Glen Ridge, West Orange, Clifton, Montclair, Bloomfield and Nutley, as well as the Teens NYC Showcase for ATC Studios in Clifton. Marsha has performed as piano accompanist for numerous groups and soloists, and has also appeared on-stage in community theater productions of Into the Woods (The Witch), Fiddler on the Roof (Yente/Fruma Sarah), Hello, Dolly (Ernestina), Urinetown (Secretary/Ensemble) and Side by Side by Sondheim. She has sung with Sh’nei Kolot (Two Voices), quartet Musical Cheers and the Verona Cedar Grove Chorus, and has also participated in a number of Interfaith services throughout Essex County. She received 3rd place in the Singin’ New Jersey contest, adult division, and sang regularly at Pianos in Bloomfield and Star Trek conventions! She has recently released her first solo CD entitled “Just Me”.
